He’s been playing music since he was able to feed himself. At the age of 4, like a Samurai Warrior (only he’s white and American), Andrew Bird was chosen to be schooled in the Suzuki Method of violin. As some wasabi on the side, the Chicago-born musician graduated from Northwestern University’s music program with a degree in violin performance.
Bird draws influence from his classical background and infuses his songs with folk, blues, bluegrass and rock. All of his albums have a different flavor to them. As no surprise, the most common theme throughout his music is the use of stringed instruments, namely violins. In ’09 his album Noble Beast hit #12 on the US charts. He just released his newest single “Eyeoneye” from latest album, Break it Yourself. More info- andrewbird.net
